Creating Your First Project

This guide walks you through creating and configuring a research project in MedTWIN.

What is a Project?

A project in MedTWIN contains:

  • Your uploaded clinical data
  • Variable mappings
  • Analysis configurations
  • Generated manuscripts
  • Team collaboration settings

Creating a Project

From the Dashboard

  1. Log in to app.medtwin.ai
  2. Click the "+ New Project" button
  3. Fill in the project details:
Field Required Description
Project Name Yes A descriptive name for your study
Description No Brief summary of research goals
Research Type No Retrospective, Prospective, or Clinical Trial
  1. Click "Create Project"

Project Settings

After creation, configure your project settings:

General Settings

  • Project Name: Can be changed anytime
  • Description: Visible to all team members
  • Research Type: Helps suggest appropriate analyses

Privacy Settings

  • Visibility: Private (default) or shared with team
  • Access Level: Who can view vs. edit

Data Settings

  • PHI Handling: Enable for HIPAA-covered data
  • Retention Period: How long to keep data

Project Structure

Once created, your project contains:

Inviting Team Members

  1. Go to Project SettingsTeam
  2. Click "Invite Member"
  3. Enter their email address
  4. Select their role:
  5. Viewer: Can view data and results
  6. Editor: Can run analyses and edit papers
  7. Admin: Full project control

Team Limits

All paid plans include unlimited team members at no extra cost.

Project Templates

Start faster with templates for common study types:

  • Cardiac Surgery Outcomes: Pre-configured for mortality analysis
  • Clinical Trial: CONSORT-compliant structure
  • Retrospective Cohort: Standard epidemiological analysis
  • Custom: Start from scratch

Deleting a Project

Permanent Action

Deleting a project removes all data, analyses, and manuscripts. This cannot be undone.

  1. Go to Project Settings
  2. Scroll to Danger Zone
  3. Click "Delete Project"
  4. Type the project name to confirm
