Learn how to upload your clinical data to MedTWIN.

Supported File Formats

Preparing Your Data

Best Practices

  1. One row per patient: Each row should represent a unique patient/case
  2. Consistent headers: Use clear, descriptive column names
  3. No merged cells: Avoid merged cells in Excel
  4. Date format: Use ISO format (YYYY-MM-DD) when possible

Uploading Files

Drag and Drop

  1. Open your project
  2. Navigate to DataUpload
  3. Drag your file into the upload area
  4. Wait for processing

File Browser

  1. Click "Browse Files"
  2. Select your file
  3. Click "Open"
  4. Wait for processing

Upload Progress

During upload, you'll see:

  • Uploading: File transfer in progress
  • Processing: Parsing and validating data
  • Mapping: AI-suggested variable mappings
  • Complete: Ready for analysis

Data Validation

MedTWIN automatically checks for:

Quality Checks

  • Missing values (with percentage)
  • Duplicate rows
  • Data type consistency
  • Outlier detection
  • Date format validation

Handling Issues

If issues are detected:

  1. Review the Data Quality Report
  2. Choose to:
  3. Fix in MedTWIN: Use built-in tools
  4. Re-upload: Fix in your source file
  5. Proceed: Accept with documented issues

Large Files

For files over 100MB:

  1. Consider splitting by year or site
  2. Use CSV format (smaller than Excel)
  3. Contact support for enterprise uploads

Performance

Files under 50MB process fastest. For large datasets, consider uploading overnight.

Data Security

Your uploaded data is:

  • Encrypted at rest (AES-256) and in transit (TLS 1.3)
  • Isolated in your tenant's storage
  • Never shared with other users
  • Backed up automatically

Versioning

MedTWIN automatically versions your data:

  • v1.0: Original upload
  • v1.1, v1.2, ...: Updates and corrections

You can always:

  • View any previous version
  • Compare versions
  • Revert to earlier version
  • See which analyses used which version
