Data Explorer

The Data Explorer lets you view, filter, and understand your clinical data.

Overview

Data Explorer provides:

  • Interactive data grid with Excel-like features
  • Column statistics at a glance
  • Quality indicators for missing data and outliers
  • Filtering and sorting for any column

Data Grid

Viewing Data

Your data appears in a spreadsheet-like grid:

  • Rows: One per patient/record
  • Columns: Your variables
  • Headers: Click to sort or see stats
  • Scroll: Mouse wheel or scroll bars
  • Jump to row: Enter row number
  • Search: Ctrl/Cmd + F to find values

Selecting Data

  • Single cell: Click
  • Row: Click row number
  • Column: Click column header
  • Range: Click and drag

Column Statistics

Click any column header to see:

Filtering

Quick Filter

  1. Click the filter icon on any column
  2. Select values to include/exclude
  3. Apply filter

Advanced Filter

For complex conditions:

age >= 65 AND diabetes = "Yes" AND mortality_30d = 1

Combining Filters

  • AND: All conditions must match
  • OR: Any condition can match
  • NOT: Exclude matching records

Quality Indicators

Color Coding

Color Meaning
⚪ White Normal value
🟡 Yellow Potential outlier
🔴 Red Missing value
🟣 Purple Duplicate row

Quality Report

Access via Data > Quality Report:

  • Overall completeness percentage
  • Columns with most missing values
  • Detected anomalies
  • Suggested fixes

Editing Data

Audit Trail

All edits are logged in the audit trail for reproducibility.

Single Cell

  1. Double-click the cell
  2. Edit the value
  3. Press Enter to save

Bulk Edit

  1. Select cells to edit
  2. Right-click > Fill
  3. Enter new value

Adding Notes

  1. Select a cell
  2. Right-click > Add Note
  3. Document why the value is unusual

Computed Columns

Create new columns from existing data:
